Tsuneo Sanda lives in Japan.
He started drawing original art in his free time while running his advertising design firm. He received an award in the Japan Science Fiction Art Competition. OMNI magazine (New York) took interest, and starting in 1988, many of Sanda’s illustrations were featured as cover art.
Later, Sanda began illustrating Star Trek and Star Wars for posters and magazines. Since receiving a request from Lucasfilm in 1996, he has produced many original Star Wars artworks. Many of these original pieces are part of George Lucas’s collection. A number of Sanda’s original artworks are displayed on the walls of Lucasfilm in the Presidio of San Francisco and at Skywalker Ranch.
For the past 28 years, he has continued to create Star Wars artwork, highly praised by fans all over the world. Since 2008, Sanda has also produced numerous Disney pieces as an official artist for Disney Studio..
In 2015, his Star Wars artwork was featured as cover art for a special edition of Newsweek magazine. Since then, he has continued creating cover illustrations for Newsweek. Sanda also draws Marvel’s Avengers.
Over the past four years, Tsuneo Sanda has embraced digital expression as part of his creative evolution.
